She earned her Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the Gorky (Nizhny Novgorod) State Conservatory in Russia, where she studied with Ilja Fridman, a distinguished student of the legendary Heinrich Neuhaus.Since immigrating to the United States in 1993, Zoya has been based in Houston, Texas. From 1994 to 2002, she served on the faculty of the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston.Zoya performs extensively throughout Europe and the United States. Her European appearances include concerts in the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Germany, Poland, Kosovo, Liechtenstein, and Estonia. She has performed in prominent venues such as Salle Cortot and Steinway Hall in Paris; St. Martin-in-the-Fields and Steinway Hall in London; Sala Baldini and Teatro di Marcello in Rome; Palais Khevenhüller and Steinway Hall in Vienna; and the Great Hall “Estonia” in Tallinn.In the United States, she appears regularly as a soloist with symphony and chamber orchestras and presents solo recitals in major cities including New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Denver, Minneapolis, San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, and Houston. Her New York performances include appearances for the Chopin Foundation of the United States, the Chopin Festival NYC, the Kościuszko Foundation, Klavierhaus, Steinway Hall, and St. John in the Village.She has participated in numerous major festivals, including the Texas Music Festival, Bravo Festival, Round Top Festival, Chopin Festival NYC, Shostakovich Festival, Neuhaus-Marantz Festival (Germany), and the Chopin Piano Festival in Prishtina, Kosovo. Zoya is a frequent guest on KUHF and KUHA (NPR) public radio stations.Her career highlights include performances for President Bill Clinton, members of the Spanish Royal Family, and the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti.
